No, all PuXings are FM, the civil airband is AM.

You need an approved and certified AM Airband radio. Peoples lives are at risk if you use the wrong equipment.

The civil airband is 108-138MHz incidentally.

  7. Thanks again for …
Thanks again for your input. Then I shall have to go for a PX777 – which is within the bandwidth for aviation communications (app 145 if I remember correctly). I know that the PX777 functions well here – comparable to the Kenwood TH-K2E.

  8. The international …
The international civil airband uses Amplitude Modulation.
The radio under review here is an FM transceiver so even if it could be made to go out of band, it would not be compatible.

  18. Hi
    Just wondering …

    Hi
Just wondering if you modified yours so it has clearer microphone. I bought the PX888 and was disappointed with the muffled audio quality of the internal mic on the unit. In fact, I found it terrible. Features seem really good, which is a shame…

  19. If there are NO UHF …
If there are NO UHF TV stations between channel 15 and 26 (incl.) AND no UHF-TV (477.1-547.1 MHz) two way radios in your area, you’re okay, but otherwise, you’ll have problems !

The Puxing PX-888 has a 38.55 MHz IF which doubles as a +77.1 MHz image separation. And the WORST of all that is that Puxing would have solved all these problems by using LOW SIDE injection. Low side LO brings the image 77.1 MHZ BELOW the UHF band (322.9-392.9 MHz) which band is WELL less crowded than the UHF TV band !

  20. The UHF (400-470 …
The UHF (400-470 MHz) PUXING PX-888 may have many bells and whistles, but it suffers from a MAJOR design drawback: It’s receiver uses HIGH SIDE injection along with an AWFUL image rejection (13 dB).

If you live in North America, and in your surroundings there are UHF TV stations, you won’t be able to use your radio.

Listen: UHF TV stations have near MEGAWATT ERP. And with a 13 dB image rejection, your PUXING will suffer from MAJOR interference from these TV stations !

Any chance you could post the link for the driver for the USB cable?
    Thanks

  25. Only if you want to …
Only if you want to add a name to the channel, you can program the frequency by using the keypad and then save it to the channel, but for the alpha tag you need the cable. but the cable can be found on ebay fro $10-$15 and it worth it, the software can be found free on the puxing website
