Is it illegal to use a CB radio/other two way radio when driving? [UK/ROI]?

I was wondering is it illegal to be using a Citizen’s Band radio (or any mobile VHF/UHF radio) with handheld microphone when driving on public roads?

I know about the mobile phone ban, so I was wondering is this included?

The phone ban is being handled differently across the world.
In the States it varies from one state to another.
My state had a specific law allowing use of Amateur and CB radios or other recievers.

Our new phone law is an addition that prohibits and defines "texting".

Phone use is still allowed.

no because there are no CBs with handsfree features

Two-way radios are not covered by the law, so it’s not an offense to have a conversation while driving, using a hand-held CB radio microphone. Two-way radios that double up as mobiles will not be allowed, though. …
