question for you, have you ever programed a XTS-5000. I am currently on a music tour’s security advance team and we are debating on getting the software so we can program our radios whenever and wherever. Since I am the only tech savy dude on the team I have been asked if we proceed with the purchase for to program. I have programed with Kenwoods easy software but was curious about motorola. I asked you cause you seem to know a lot : ) Thanks !

    wrong. it would be …
wrong. it would be nice though but not possible. maybe for your basic analog old setup but not the new secure system. motorola went all out this time.

  9. Blokemall, in most …
Blokemall, in most cases anyone can purchase the radio. But you will need them to program in the channels for you. A reputable dealer will only program channels designated for public service (police, fire, state police, or sheriff) into the radio in a receive mode. There is nothing illegal about using one of these radios as a scanner as long as encryption decoding isn’t enabled. Normal APCO25 decoding is fine, as long as it hasn’t been encrypted.

  10. Can anyone purchase …
Can anyone purchase these radios from Motorola? or does it require proof that I am a local Police or Fire Department in order to purchase these radios?

  11. these radios are …
these radios are also securenet capable our pd uses them i want to get one and i know a program that will decode the encryption so i can hear their secure traffic

  12. Let me clarify …
Let me clarify myself, Can you program these to operate on all of the bands like Ch. 1 on VHF, and Ch. 2 on the UHF band? or only one band? for a $3500 radio, doesn’t interoperation mean to communicate on ALL bands and not just on one band?

  13. Can these radios be …
Can these radios be programmed to operate on multi-band (VHF, UHF, and 800 MHz) or only one?
