BBC Radio 3 will play anything, ranging from Britten to Penderecki via Bach and Handel. I listen to it all the time.
References :
Most of them play the classical top 40 and aim it at people who just want background music whilst they do other stuff. So you get simpler, happier, lighter, and after a while boring. I suggest you start with http://classicalwebcast.com/ which lists classical stations from around the world. You'll get a better mix that way, and certainly not just the bland top-40 programming of most of the USA outlets. I often find myself at ABC which is Australian public radio.
References :
KUSC. It is a PBS affiliated station operated by the University Of Southern California. They play a full spectrum of classical music (not just the most popular) and will even play more contemporary composers like John Adams and Phillip Glass. You'll hear everyone from Rachmaninoff to Ives to Beethoven to Telemann. The more 'serious' music is usually played in the evening.

They also broadcast live performances from the Met (Saturday mornings) and the San Francisco Symphony (Sunday evenings)
