in the70’s David Rockefeller plotted to allow the Shah to enter America knowing it would provoke the Islamic revolutionaries into “some kind of outrageous response”, which in turn would provoke a retaliation by the American government of freezing Iranian assets kept in Rockefeller’s Chase Manhattan Bank. This would help replace loans made by Chase Manhattan to the Shah that the Islamic government had no intention of repaying. The theory is mentioned in the book Taken Hostage, by David R. Farber
