i just bot a cb radio for fun. it has a red and black wire to hook up to my car. how do i do that?

Use a 4-gauge wire and run it through the door jamb and the crack by the hinge of your hood.

Just kidding.

But like Tom V asked, do you have a CB antenna? Did you know they usually have to be trimmed using an SWR meter so your bandwidth is tuned properly and you don’t fry the radio?

10-4, good buddy!

  1. Red goes to a power source, such as an unused fuse in the fuse panel or to the battery. It’s always best to have a fuse in the power lead. Black goes to ground, some metal part of the car like the frame or some sort of metal bracket.

  2. Double check your wiring diagram. Usually the red wire will be the hot wire and the black will be the ground. Make sure you fuse the hot side. When using the fuse box use a fuse that shuts off when the ignition is off.

  3. Those would be for your battery. Black = neg. Red = Pos. just hid the wires under the carpet and run it through your passenger door jam under your hood to your battery. Now if your battery is on the driver side on the car, then do same thing through the driver’s door jam. This is the way to do with out drilling.

Got one myself. Did on my own.

  4. the red is the power wire and the black wire is the ground. you can take it to a radio shop (radio shack) and get them to put a dc connector on it for like 5 bucks. or you can hook ut up yourself to your fuse box. given that it is for fun, your best bet is to get the cig. lighter attachment from radio shack

  8. the answers these ppl are giving u are great but im a car audio installer and one of my rules is DO NOT USE UR FUSE PANNEL! best way to do this is get a regular fuse holder if u dont have one grab a fuse and 2 spade connectors and make one but find ur accessory wire on ur ignition harness (turns on and off wit the key) ((this is only for power not ground (((red wire))) double check ur diagram though!)) and then just use a ring terminal and drill the ground straight to the car making ur own ground is the best way to go… good luck hope this helped
