Can I buy a two way radio from the US and use it in Africa?

I am trying to buy a lot of two way radios and take it back to Guinea to sell..But My question is..will it work? How can i make it to work if it dont? Please I need some real input on this

Your question is not very clear. If you are asking if there are any devices that will detect radar and/or laser emission from a police car to avoid getting tagged for speeding, yes there are. They are generally referred to as radar detectors. Whether they are legal where you are and work in the frequencies of your police, I wouldn’t know.

If you are looking for a way of listening in to police transmissions, yes. Those are called scanners. Again they may or may not be legal to own where you are. You also have to make sure they cover the police bands you want to listen too.

How do i get the sound back on my uniden gmr1038-2 two-way radio? All sound is gone even button chirps!!?

Both radios have band new batteries and were working great but while using them one radio’s sound stopped working even the chirps from pushing the buttons. I looked up and read the manual online but that wasn’t any help. Is there any I can do to fix it or is it trash now????

Try seeing what the volume is at first just in case and also try talking to it from the other one. If not your speaker might have gone bad, but you can take it out and get a new one pretty cheap.

Now if the problem is the other way and when you try to transmit and you can’t hear nothing on the other than it would be best just to get a new one as a part on the circuit board is out and it’s not worth trying to figure out just for a bubble pack.

What can I do about a ex employee harassing me on a stolen company two way radio ?

My work partner and I are being harassed on the company radio by a former employee who got fired and blames us. This guy is clearly psycho. What can be done to stop this ? Everyone of our units recognize his voice. The company just lets it go on. I want it stopped. I think he stole a portable 2 way radio before he left , but I can not prove it. Thanks

He’s probably violating the FCC regs. Report him to the FCC.

I am looking for a handheld emergency two way radio.?

I do alot of hiking, and end up in some veary remote places. Alot of the time I do not get cell phone reception. I am looking for an emergency two way radio, or cb radio were I can get a hold of emergency personel if need be. I would like to find something with 10 to 25mi range, and I want a sure thing, not just a maybe awencer. Must be handheld. Thanks for your time.

You will not find a hand-held two way radio that can reliably transmit that far. The radios that advertise that kind of distance are being tested on open water with a direct line of sight. A 5 watt GMRS radio will get around 1-2 miles in a light residential area. A hand-held CB radio will get around 2-4 miles. Ham radios I’m not so sure about, but 1 mile per watt is a good rule of thumb. Again, this is all with a fairly clear line of site to the other radio in good weather.

Looking for a More Than Two Way Radio?

I’m looking to buy a radio handset that can connect with other radios on the same frequency, no matter the type, that are in the same area.

Unfortunately the only ones I can find are two way business radios that only work with each other and no other radios, even of the same kind, on the frequency.

I’d like to keep cost to a minimum, maybe $150 max. Headset compatible (any kind of jack) is a MUST!

Any suggestions?

Business radios are only licensed to communicate with themselves.

GMRS radios might work. Licenses required though.

FRS radios will work, for shorter distances and non-commercial use.

the kind of two-way radio transmissions that’s built in your house phone. the little button that you press on the base to find your house phone in the house.

This is not something you want to build from scratch. I’d suggest trying some kits.

The best sort of kit for a two way radio would depend on what you really want to do. Are you transmitting voice or data?

The security personnel at my work use a four channel Motorola and I would like to have a radio in my desk for potential emergency use. What kind of radio do I need to purchase that will pick up their channels without having a technician set it up for me? How would I do this??
