  • paying the fcc to use a two way radio?

Posted by admin on January 30th, 2010 and filed under two way radio | 2 Comments »

i want to buy a two way radio to communicate with my husband while he is at work, its a 2 mile distance. However, while looking to buy one online, I see alot of reviews that mention having to pay the FCC to use them?! Is this true? I see two different types, GMRS and FRS. Can someone give me some links to a set of 2 way radios’s, under $60, that you dont have to pay anything extra to use? Thank you!

FRS does not need any extra license, but GMRS does.

It’s just two different systems. I find that FRS is good enuf for pretty much everything.

You may be happiest if you get a set with "privacy codes" to be able to ignore excess chatter.

I have a class project in my business marketing class, and I was wondering how I could do to make it funny and exciting? We chose using billiboards ads and radio advertising!

Guerella Marketing!!!!! Research it a lil bit. I can email you some audio seminars, I just have to look for them.

    EDIT
Check the link, and listen to all the seminars. You’ll get a jump ahead of all your class mates. I’ve been getting As by using this stuff.

What is the program called to make jingles for radios?

Hi, I’m wondering what is the program called to make jingles for radios?
Its ok, i if i have to pay. I’m just wondering what the program is called?

"The" program? There’s only ONE program that can do audio editing now? I’m intrigued by this new information you have, since I can think of at least five audio manipulation tools that don’t seem to have mysteriously disappeared yet.

do i need PROGRAMMING Software to progran a two way radio?

Posted by admin on January 28th, 2010 and filed under two way radio | 1 Comment »

do i need PROGRAMMING Software to progran a two way radio or can i just connect it to my computer and program it???????????????????????

Some need programming, some do not. I have several 2-ways as an amateur radio operator and none of my radios require any programming. A friend, also an amateur radio operator, has several as well, and at least one of his DOES require programming from an external source. Without more in the way of detail, there is no way to answer your question. Read the documentation…

There is no sound on you tube or any similar site including online radio?

Posted by admin on January 28th, 2010 and filed under online radios | 2 Comments »

Hi, I am using Windows Vista on my Toshiba Satellite A205.The problem is I cannot hear any sound whenever I visit youtube or any similar sites including online radio.Sounds and volume on any other media such as CD or DVD playback is normal.
    Please help.

I see questions just like yours every couple days on Yahoo about vids with NO SOUND,
so I recently did a whole lot of Googling, searching, reading
and poring over dozens of discussion threads and websites,
only to realize that there are no definitive answers out there.

The only semblance of a part-solution which kind of worked
for a couple people would require you to either:
1 — fool around with your "registry" (which I would be totally
    against because that could really screw up your computer);
2 — download some utilities (which I would be just as much
against, because that kind of stuff is what probably created
your problem in the first place).

Thus, my first piece of advice is to shutdown then reboot. If
that doesn’t work, clear your "cache" of "Cookies", "History"
and "Temporary Internet Files", thus making your computer
"fresh" in YouTube’s eyes. My infamous "CHTIF" triple-cure
has resolved hundreds of YouTubers’ problems. So why not
yours. Please reboot after doing this:

    Internet Explorer 6:
    → Tools → Internet Options
    → Delete Cookies → OK
    → Delete Files → OK
    → Clear History → Yes
    → OK

    Internet Explorer 7:
    → Tools → Internet Options → Delete…
    → Delete files → Yes
    → Delete cookies → OK
    → Delete history → OK
    → Close (browsing history window)
    → OK

    Mozilla Firefox 3:
→ Tools → Clear Private Data
    [x] Browsing History
    [x] Download History
[x] Saved Form and Search History
    [x] Cache
    [x] Cookies
    → Clear Private Data Now

To clear your "cache" within IE 8, Safari, or Google Chrome,
please check out this other "Best Answer" of mine:
    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090604145307AAPbGic

If that does not do the trick, here’s some other suggestions:

♦ If this just happened to you, there’s one person on Yahoo
who discovered their own solution by going back to the last
video they watched that had sound. See "Additional Details":
    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090913084412AAqVE5q

♦ If you’ve got "accelerators", get rid of them because most
of them conflict with YouTube. "Ad Block" and "Messenger"
    programs also interfere with YouTube.

♦ There could also be conflicts with other video players that
are installed on your computer, like Windows Media Player,
Real Player and QuickTime. Check all of their volumes, too.

♦ The newer versions of Flash are frustrating a whole bunch
of YouTubers. Most updates are typically good for only one
thing: software conflicts. If you are using 1 of the 8 versions
of Flash 10 (yes, there actually are 8), you should consider
the Asker’s comments on this other "Best Answer" of mine:
    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081125075929AABZpVS

♦ Some people found success by just closing their browser
and restarting it. A couple others rebooted, and one person
wrote to me recently saying that everything started working
magically again the next day with no effort on his part; thus
your problem might just be a temporary glitch.

If you’re able to determine the "cause" and its "cure", could
you please click my avatar and let me know — so that I can
include it in my future Yahoo! Answers. One other apparent
cause so far seems to be if you download "Torrents" music.

I wish you the best of luck and hope that there’s something
in my long answer that will do the trick for you.

Here are 2 other possible solutions to videos with no sound.
They might seem old but they both got very positive results:

Anyone know where i can get a good portable radio with earphone sockets, preferably with digital screen?

Posted by admin on January 28th, 2010 and filed under portable radios | 1 Comment »

Does anybody know where i can get a good portable radio with earphone sockets, preferably with digital screen, or a good radio incorparated headset. I bought one before but it wasn’t very good quality, very hard to tune my favorite station in. I prefer to buy this from a shop rather than online incase i have to return it but if you’ve tried it before and recommend it then i will consider purchasing it online. Nothing too pricey please.

    Thank you.

I would reccommend a Walkman phone. Phone, MP3 player and personal radio all in one. I’ve had a Sony Ericsson W910i with a 4GB memory card for a year now and never had any problems. The radio quality is pretty damn good too.

You will probably find it cheaper online, but I’m sure you can find a good price in Phones 4 U, Argos, Carphone Warehouse, etc.

It would be helpful to know how much you’re looking to spend.

How do you make running on a treadmill interesting and fun?

Posted by admin on January 28th, 2010 and filed under fun radios | 8 Comments »

I go on the treadmill at the gym as it is the only damn piece of equipment that can make me fitter and run faster and longer as well as breathe easier. However the damn thing is as boring as hell, even with the tv or radio on. Any ideas on making it more tolerable?

Make your own personal song mix that will keep you moving on your iPod. Just make sure you have a special headset that won’t fall off when running.

ETA: Gabe has a good point. In the gym on the row of treadmills, sometimes I’d get a better run when I’d pretend I was in a race or competition with the runners next to me (just pretending, really to challenge myself a little further).
And yeah, it may help to be next to someone you find attractive for motivation (or more distracting, embarrassing to be sweating, etc., depending how you take it). Or to be next to someone like you (for you – maybe another guy) to pretend to battle it out.

Are there any radio stations broadcasting live on the internet, located in the island of Aegina?

Posted by admin on January 28th, 2010 and filed under radio stations | 1 Comment »

And I don’t mean radio stations that are retransmitted from Athens, but radio stations that broadcast from Aegina. Thanks for helping!

    There you go:

I think thast one of them works only certain hours of the day.
